Week Two Project, Should Be Month Two Project!

I think finishing one project per week may be overly ambitious...
Anyway, my original yarn/sewing blanket idea did not turn out as expected, so it ended up being a sewing project with some embroidery practice.

Note, to complete a successful project in a timely manner: plan ahead!!!

Blanket for my cousin's baby Brendon:

Blanket, Patchwork Trim: 100% cotton; Embellishment: 100% cotton, 100% cotton embroidery floss, acrylic yarn

Pattern adapted from a book my friend gave me, Weekend Sewing by Heather Ross. This is the second project from the book that seemed easy, but had a few problems when executed:
*This blanket calls for using wool as the main part - I did not find any adequate for a baby's use. I used a soft cotton instead.
*The instructions call for sewing two pieces together for the main part, creating an exposed decorative sewn seam. I found this unncesseary so I used one piece of contrasting fabrics to make two sides.
*The patchwork trim excess became too thick when sewing onto the main piece, so it should have been pressed a different way than specified in the instructions.
*Test your interfacing - for some reason the interfacing did not adhere to the fabric, so I had to improvise. Test a small piece on you fabric first!
